Summer Project – Self Control

Defeating the Sinful Nature

  1. Admit that we are powerless apart from Jesus

“Thanks to God, though you used to be slaves to sin,     because you wholeheartedly obeyed the teaching, you have been set free.”    Romans 6:16-18

Trust that Jesus power will free us.

“If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed”

John 8:36

  1. Surrender our will to God’s control

“The fruit of the spirit is…..”

But why do I still struggle?

“Are you foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are

you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?”                Galatians 3:3

Steps to Abiding

  1. Confession

Psalm 139:23, 1 John 1:8-9

  1. Practice the Presence of God

Psalm 1
