Cornerstone is an active senior (55 plus) group within the life of First Christian Church. They have a desire to share their love of God by supporting FCC’s vision to “love God, love others, serve the world”.
The cornerstone concept is derived from the first stone set in the construction of a masonry foundation, important since all other stones will be set in reference to this stone, thus determining the position of the entire structure. The ministry shares their love of God and His love to others by providing opportunities for:

Cornerstone Dinners with Entertainment
Held 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6 PM in the Family Center, on varying months of the year. Cost is $10 for the meal and includes the entertainment which can vary from musical groups to comedians to magicians. Sign-up and pay in advance for the dinner at the Events Counter. Watch the bulletin for the entertainment and menu for a particular month’s dinner and also when reservations are being accepted. Paying guests of all ages are welcome. However, be sure to sign them up and pay for them at the Events Counter, too. We will need their names so that name tags can be prepared.
Held 4th Thursday of every month at 11:30 AM. Except for November and December when it is held on the 3rd Thursday due to the holidays. A different restaurant is selected each month with varying locations, i.e., Rotate between South Fort Myers, Fort Myers, North Fort Myers and also the Pine Island Road area of Cape Coral.
Cornerstone will schedule special educational events when needs and or opportunities present themselves. Topics may include but are not limited to: Learning a craft; working with computers or smartphones; using Facebook; Grief Share; being a care giver; end of life planning; etc.
Cornerstone sponsors a corporate support group for several children in El Salvador, Bolivia and the Dominican Republic. This group supports the children together rather than individually. No set amount is required to participate. There are some who give weekly, monthly and annual amounts. Christmas and birthday gifts are also given to the Cornerstone Sponsored Children.
In addition to the Lunch Bunch monthly outings, Cornerstone also sponsors Broadway Palm shows on a regular basis which are open to all of FCC and are at group rates. As other opportunities surface, Cornerstone is always open to sponsor events to include all generations.
Trips of Interest
Cornerstone annually takes a multi-day trip, usually in the fall. Each year is something different and can range from a cruise to a trip by coach. The current trip is to Washington DC, October 10-18 2018. To get more information on the DC trip and or to sign up, go to the events counter or click here for a brochure. Day trips are schedule when there is enough interest in an identified opportunity. typically these trips start from the church and carpool. Lunch is always included in any day trip outing and on rare occasions. Breakfast and/or dinner may be also. Watch the bulletin for information on any single or multi-day trips. The trip overview and sign up details will be identified.
